Launch Performing Arts Centre is proud to offer the very best in pre-professional training. Our course focuses on ensuring you are highly trained in all Commercial genres including singing and acting.

We also provide personalised mentoring in the business aspects of developing a successful career in the arts along with training sessions in goal setting and personal development.

With strictly limited spots available, we are dedicated to ensuring you get one-on-one attention in both class and mentoring sessions. It is essential as an artist that you discover who you are and where you want to go and that you train in all areas, focusing on improving both strengths and weaknesses with the aim to create triple threat performers.

Auditions are now open for 2021. Choose to audition in studio at one of our pre-professional classes, allowing you to not only showcase your technical and dance ability, but also allow you to experience the LAUNCH difference through taking class with our highly successful industry faculty.

Or choose to audition by video submission if you are unable to join an in studio class.

Choose Your Qualification

We offer a range of nationally recognised certificate qualifications within our Pre-Professional program.

Choose the certification level that suits you while still taking full advantage of the dance training and mentoring available within the program. If you choose a national qualification course, you will complete extra hours allocated to theory and assessments. To help with this, assistance in tutoring is available.

Limited Class Numbers

We accept a limited number of 25 students to our Pre-Professional program each year to ensure everyone gets the attention required to finish this course in peak form.

Choose Your Certification Level

Our flexible training options allow you to undertake the training level that suits you. If a national qualification is important to you, upgrade from the three day Pre-Professional program to the Full-Time Certificate IV in Dance.

Our courses will prepare you for multiple career options. These include Musical Theatre, Commercial Dance, Moulin Rouge/Showgirl contracts, Cruise Ships, Modelling and Fashion Parades, TVCs, and Dance Teaching

How to Join Launch’s Pre-Professional Program

Part of the selection criteria for all our courses within the Pre-Professional program is an in-studio audition (or via video submission) with LAUNCH Performing Arts Centre Director, Michelle Hopper Doyle .

Applicants will be required to attend one full day of our course so we can assess your skill level. If you are unable to attend a day in person, you can apply through video submission.

All applicants are required to attend an interview with the course director/s. It is essential we get to know you and your goals so we can assess whether you are the right candidate.

In person - Class Audition

Choose to audition in person by attending a full day of a Pre-Professional Classes (Tues-Thurs each week) where we will assess your skill level.

Select your preferred audition date when applying online. One of our team will be in contact shortly after receiving your submission to confirm the date and time.

Audition Video Submission

If you are unable to audition in person, you can apply through a video submission.

The video submission audition which requires you to (1) submit this application form and (2) email LAUNCH Director, Michelle Hopper-Doyle at [email protected] the below information:

  • Your current CV including a head shot
  • 1-3 minute video showcasing the following:
    – Technical ability – please show us 1-3 technical exercises or combinations clearly showing your level of technique.
    – Dance Ability – please show us combinations in at least 3 of the following dance styles Jazz, Contemporary, tap, Broadway Jazz, Ballet, Showgirl.
  • (optional) 1 minute video of a vocal piece or any other special act you have in your repertoire.

Michelle Hopper Doyle

Course Director

As a leader in the Australian dance industry, Michelle has worked extensively in the performing arts for more than 20 years. Her career has seen her work with the world’s best directors and choreographers including Baz Lurhmann, George Miller, David Atkins, Kelley Abbey, Wade Robson, The Squared Division, John O’Connell, Jason Coleman and Dein Perry.

Over two decades as a performing arts professional, Michelle secured roles in major stage productions including Singin’ in the Rain and Grease Arena Spectacular. She was cast in Happy Feet 2 and The Son of Mask, plus she performed on screen at the TV Week Logie Awards, Helpmann Awards, X Factor, Australian Idol, MTV Music Awards and Aria Awards.

Michelle has danced for the Nickelodeon Awards and the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games. She performed with leading music icons including Kylie Minogue, Jessica Mauboy, Tina Arena, Guy Sebastian, Boyzone, Vanessa Amorosi, The Rogue Traders and Sneaky Sound System.

Brittany Walsh started her career with a bang performing alongside Julia Morris at the 2018 ‘TV Week Logie Awards’ and her achievements continue to inspire us. In 2018 she landed her first contract with Celebrity Cruises and a 2nd in 2019. This year she had the honour of performing with Katy Perry at the ‘T20 Women’s Cricket World Cup’ under the direction of The Squared Division. Brittany is a dedicated artist with goals of performing in Musical Theatre productions and dreams of heading to Big Apple to be a ‘Rockette’. Karin Mochizuki has achieved success at an early age having performed at the 2018 ‘TV Week Logie Awards’ and as a featured dancer in the blockbuster film ‘Dora the Explorer.’ A truly dedicated artist Karin travelled to LA in 2019 to train with LA’s finest to further her skills and to build contacts with the dream of moving there one day. Karin Mochizuki

Learning to dance from age 3 in NSW, Stephen was always destined to be a performer. He joined LAUNCH in 2017 to further his training and with the goal to become a professional dancer. He started working professionally in 2018, performing in the Opening & Closing Ceremonies for the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. He also appeared in the 2019 feature film, Dora and the Lost City of Gold. Stephen has completed 2 overseas dance contracts for Celebrity Cruise Lines and aspires to return to the seas when the world opens up again post COVID. Stephen continues to be part of our dance family in a teaching role primarily for our preschool READY, SET DANCE program. Stephen loves that he plays an important role by introducing dance to the next generation of children. His motto, “Have fun and always try your hardest in everything you do.”

Launch alumni Elle Perring has been performing with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines for the past two years as a dancer and aerialist. “Dancing on cruise ships has been a dream of mine since I was 8 years old and I have loved every second of living my dream’. My next goal is to perform in a Musical Theatre show touring Australia and another dream would be to relocate to Europe to perform in a cabaret show. ‘Launch has been my home for the past 5 years and has taught me everything I need to know about the industry. I’m so grateful I can come home between contracts and continue training and stay show fit until the next job comes around.”
